In this post we want to give you an inside on the impacts of the Corona virus on smaller brands and businesses but also inspire you with tips on how to help these brands and businesses. Start your support journey together with us.
WHY SHOULD WE SUPPORT SUSTAINABLE BRANDS MORE THAN EVER BEFORE?
In these uncertain times, small sustainable shop owners are struggling to stay afloat and many businesses are closing. These are the ethical and sustainable brands which we should start supporting more towards a healthier planet with better human working conditions. If these smaller sustainable shops don’t sell, the whole production chain (which is usually far smaller and more controlled) gets impacted and those people who have been working so hard at the start of the production on a garment, are not able to get paid. If the clothes don’t sell, the business is unable to pay their workers and it might go bankrupt. This leaves many people vulnerable and chances for those sustainable brands to function shrink. We have a choice to take responsibility for the existence of local, physical and most importantly, sustainable stores and boutiques. What will we do about it? What we need the most right now is the support of sustainable wear and it’s development in the modern world.
WHAT ARE THE IMPACTS OF CORONA ON SMALLER BUSINESSES SO FAR?
Let our thoughts go to the workers of the fashion industry relying on this physical work for their living. The shops are all relying heavily on online sales. For stores that rely mainly on their physical store, it is hard to start relying solely on online presence. Fast fashion giants are relying on fashion trends, quick turnover and sales and despite the pressure of the situation are still coping. Small businesses invest their own money in their shop to pursue their dream of starting their business. They sell long lasting items with love. However, when presented with an obstacle like the crisis, their chances of existing become slim. Lots of people unfortunately still support fast fashion brands and trends which don’t last long, even at a crucial time like this.

WHY SHOULD YOU SUPPORT THE SMALL?
It is hard for the small businesses to support themselves without your help. Some suggestions from us if you want to give a helping hand is to share and show some love simply by posting online to promote their online presence. Inspire people to buy more sustainable products. Adjust your buying practices, make sure that with your purchase you are helping the planet and are buying products that you love and can wear for more than one season. Stop supporting fast fashion, especially during this tough time if not altogether. By purchasing ethical and sustainable products you are helping the planet and saving small businesses by giving them potential to grow and expand.
