raw material

Tencel™Lyocell is made from eucalyptus trees’ wood pulp in forests with the FSC quality mark.

THE FABRIC

The wood flakes are dissolved in amine oxide, filtered, extruded into hot air, and regenerated in a water bath.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

The production of Tencel™Lyocell has a low enviromental impact, compared to other other regenarated cellulosic fibres (like Viscose or Modal), because the solvent is non-toxic and reused.

Tencel™Lyocell's production process is a closed cycle. More than 99% of the water and solvents used in this process are collected and reused. In addition, fiber bleach is completely chlorine-free.

Tencel and Lyocell

Lyocell is registered as TENCEL™ by Lenzing and manufactured in Austria, so it is the brand name of Lyocell.

Tencel™ Lyocell manufactured by Lenzing comes only from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified forests, which means the trees are harvested responsiblyAlmost all the solvents needed to break down wood into pulp are recovered and recycled, and the process is powered by sustainable bioenergy. This means we can be sure that the Tencel™ brand is good for the environment.
